The Cancer Society of New Zealand (Te Kāhui Matepukupuku o Aotearoa) is excited to announce that the 2023 National Grant Round is now open.

The aim of the Cancer Society’s National Grant Round is to fund high-quality research across the cancer continuum (including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care). In 2023, we are offering Research Grants, Post-Doctoral Fellowships, and PhD Scholarships. Applications are now closed for Research Grants and Post-Doctoral Fellowships. PhD Scholarship applications are open until 1 May 2023.

Please note that we have specific funding available for Melanoma & Lung Cancer research, and we encourage applications in these research areas.

Expression of Interest Process

Expressions of Interest for Research Grant and Post-Doctoral Fellowship applications have now closed.

51 Expressions of Interest were received, made up of 31 Research Grants and 20 Post-Doctoral Fellowship applications. 24 have progressed to full proposals, made up of 16 Research Grants and 8 Post-Doctoral Fellowships.
