What we offer

This is a is full time permanent position - 37.5 hours a week with some time spent in our Newtown centre and also out in the community. 

There is scope to bring your ideas and ways of working to this role. We invest in our staff with bi-annual all staff conferences. We are also passionate about continual professional development with access to funding and professional supervision.

We understand everyone has different commitments outside of work and we offer flexible working, a comprehensive wellness package, and a supportive team environment. The team meet regularly for team building (think dragon boating) strategic planning and social events.

The focus of the position will be to:

Provide support and information to cancer patients and their whānau in the community and on our 0800 CANCER support service.

  • Connect with and establish relationships with Māori healthcare providers
  • Grow your community networks to ensure clients receive the support they need.
  • Increase awareness and use of the Cancer Society support services.

 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the team. You will love working with people in a community setting. Ideally you have connections to local Iwi or Māori health care providers. A relevant degree in healthcare is essential and some oncology experience would be great. You are good at identifying and setting up community networks. You are a self-starter who can plan and execute new ideas with confidence. You will also need a full driver’s license.
