About the programme | Kia ora - E te iwi Whakapapa
Here at Te Kāhui Matepukupuku o Aotearoa (Cancer Society NZ), we are committed to doing our best to help support whānau to live life well after a cancer diagnosis.
Thus, to support and awhi whānau Māori across the motu, we have worked alongside iwi and Māori health providers from around Aotearoa New Zealand to develop a kaupapa Māori programme to be delivered with Māori.
In 2011 the first kaupapa Māori programme, Kia ora - E te iwi, was adopted from the Living Well with Cancer programme.
In 2020 we updated the content of the programme and included more recent information and resources.
Kia ora - E te iwi helps whānau increase knowledge about cancer and its treatment, about services and support available, how to cope with side effects, and how to live life well.
However, the high point of Kia ora - E te iwi is whānau coming together, to kōrero, in a safe environment to share and support each other.
