In collaboration with Poutiri Trust, we recently held a Kia Ora - E te Iwi wānanga at Tūhourangi Marae in Te Puke. The event brought together over 20 participants, creating a safe and supportive space to share personal experiences with cancer.
Whānau openly spoke about their journeys, the challenges faced, and the strategies they have used to live well with cancer. The hui was rich in learning, whakawhanaungatanga, and collective strength, reinforcing the importance of culturally grounded, community-led approaches to cancer support and care.
I’ve really enjoyed all of today and felt safe to share my experiences to help others.
