Every day 71 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer.
New Zealanders like Jo, whose life has been turned upside down by bowel cancer. Jo’s greatest fear is for her children – particularly the possibility of her not being around for them.
We need your help this Christmas to make sure patients like Jo have all the support they need, and to help us fight for a cure to this heart-breaking disease.
Jo was completely shattered when her doctor told her that she had stage 4 bowel cancer:
“I was in a lot of shock trying to process it all,” Jo said. “I couldn’t stop thinking about my children and thinking I’m going to die. I was so consumed with fear for my kids.”
From being fit, healthy, and outdoorsy pre-cancer, Jo is now needing both practical and emotional support to cope with treatment, fatigue and the full impact cancer brings.
Thankfully, Jo is receiving much-needed support and care from her Cancer Society nurse Marie.
