We are looking for an experienced and motivated Skin Cancer Prevention Lead to join our team and help deliver one of New Zealand's most important cancer prevention programme. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful public health initiatives that improve outcomes for communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.

About the role

The Skin Cancer Prevention Lead role will deliver initiatives aimed at reducing the incidence of skin cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand. This includes delivering both day-to-day operations and specific projects related to the skin cancer prevention programme, collaborating with teams on campaigns, managing relationships with government partners and supporting the Programme Manager.

Working collaboratively across the health sector, government, and the Cancer Society divisions, this role ensures the work remains a credible, evidence-based, and equity-driven voice in cancer prevention.

What you will be doing?

Programme delivery You will:

• Lead and coordinate projects and initiatives within the national Skin Cancer Prevention Programme.
• Support the day-to-day planning and delivery of programme activities.
• Work alongside evidence and policy, brand, marketing and communications, divisional teams, and government partners to deliver shared priorities.
• Help maintain an evidence-based approach to skin cancer prevention.
• Coordinate programme resources, messaging, and activities to support consistent national delivery.
• Identify risks and proactively manage or implement solutions to ensure successful programme outcomes.
• Lead meetings, provide progress reporting, and support stakeholder engagement activities.
• Support the coordination of key sector groups, including the UV Issues Group and Monitoring and Oversight Group.
• Build strong relationships across government, the health sector, community organisations, and Cancer Society teams.
• Support the Cancer Society's partnership with government to advance shared skin cancer prevention goals.
• Contribute to collaborative work that strengthens skin cancer prevention efforts nationally.

What you will bring

• Experience in project management or coordinating programmes.
• Understanding of public health, health promotion, or the wider health sector.
• Experience working collaboratively with external stakeholders and partners.
• Strong relationship management skills and confidence engaging with government and sector.
• Ability to interpret and apply evidence to inform programme planning, strategy, and communication.
• Experience scoping new initiatives and developing recommendations for future approaches.
• Strong organisational skills, with a track record of delivering work on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
