Relay For Life - Te Ara Toiora is an inspiring community event that gives everyone a chance to whakanui (celebrate) people who have or have had cancer and the people who care for them; maumaharatia (remember) loved ones lost to cancer; and tū atu (fight back) by raising awareness and funds for the Cancer Society.

We couldn’t run an event like Relay for Life without our amazing volunteers. This is an awesome opportunity to do good and make a difference to people with cancer.  Below are the volunteer team leaders role available

Team Leader Registration Tent

Ensures the efficient check-in process by managing wristband distribution and guiding volunteers. You’ll oversee the safe entry of participants, particularly ensuring under 18s are stamped out by teachers and assist with wristbands for vendors and activity providers.

Team Leader Information Tent

Oversees the collection of fundraising incentives like T-shirts and headphones, and provides event information. Volunteers will assist participants by verifying fundraising totals and guiding them with any event-related inquiries.

Team Leader Activity Zone

Supervise and support various event activities, including face painting, giant games and Circus. Ensure that activity areas are running smoothly and support suppliers as necessary.

Team Leader Event Support

Main role is to make sure the three main areas of the event clean and tidy. The chill out tent, the food area and the toilets. They are to let us know if the toilets need to be cleaned by the venue.  Support and check in on other volunteers to make sure they get toilet breaks etc

Team Leader Candle Bag Tent

Manage the Candle Bag Tent, ensuring participants have the opportunity to decorate their candle bags throughout the day. Lead the setup of the Candle Bag Ceremony, including placing and lighting the bags along the track.
